Coffee tables are also used as end tables in some homes. Such homes may not have the space to have a coffee table a foot or two in front of the sofa or group of chairs. Placing them as end tables is a good solution and they can still act as accent tables. End tables are also good for the placement of reading lamps when you need a little extra light for reading or hobbies such as knitting quilting or needlepoint.
Decide on the design too. If you want something simple then go for simplicity in design. If you want something grand try something with intricate designs. If you want to use your unique coffee table to serve guests then consider a lift top or something equally functional. Whatever function or style you need you will be able to find unique coffee tables that will serve that need.
Versatile Coffee Tables If you have a smaller room you may think you dont have room for a coffee table. If you choose one that serves multiple purposes however you may find certain types of coffee tables can actually be space savers. If storage is an issue many attractive tables offer lots of extra storage space. Drawers or shelves in coffee tables are great places to keep magazines the phone book craft supplies or remote controls. Coffee tables that incorporate baskets are cleverly designed to be attractive yet give you more storage options. These are great places to keep baby toys or your latest knitting project.
The coffee table generally sits in the expanse between the sofa/s and the television and whilst it does offer a handy place to pop your glass of wine its central location means that most eyes fall on it when they look at the room and it becomes the most important focal point. So are you the arty type with heavy art books and sketch books stacked sky high or perhaps a slightly uptight neat freak with a spotless surface and a coaster at the ready? Regardless of what your personality really is or who you want to project spending some time considering the "presentation" of your coffee table just as you would a display on a buffet or dresser could make a huge difference to your room. If you want to create a coffee table display select pieces with a similar theme and group them together then balance the display with an off centre vase of flowers or bowl. If you prefer to keep your coffee table surface clear look for a coffee table design that makes more of a statement to add interest to the centre of the room if you have a minimalist theme create depth by contrasting shapes a simple round vase on a square table for example.
Coffee tables are also known as accent tables because they can accentuate a rooms decor. If the living rooms theme is for example wild flowers accent tables can hold some well placed vases full of fresh cut or dried wild flowers. They can also display home decor and art pieces that are part of the wild flower theme. In this way these accent tables pull a room together - decor-wise.
Lift Top Coffee Tables - this is like an additional piece of material on the existing tables. The basic concept behind their unique design is the utility of the additional piece. The top of the table is detachable and can be lowered or raised according to the required adjustments. These tables are used mainly for the purpose of eating in front of the TV or using laptops. They make it easier for you to access the contents on the table without making any extra effort.
